PROJECTS: Commercial/Business

Project Type: Commercial/Business
Project Location:
Union, NJ
Application: Initial installation with continual updates
1996 - Present
Value: $22,600

JSC originally installed the first Andover Controls System in the Union BASF/Englehard facility in 1996. This original project included the installation
of controls and networking for several rooftop package systems serving the individual engine testing laboratories. Because of the excessive heat generated during the testing process, the system also interfaced the fire
alarm and smoke containment systems. A cooling tower, controlled by the Andover System provides the process cooling for the engine tests. Over time many new HVAC systems were added to the facility and integrated to the Andover system. Currently, Administrative / Office Spaces, chillers, split
AC Systems, the ALD lab and the Photovoltaic Lab are under control
of the Andover System.

Hyatt Regency

Project Type: Commercial/Business
Project Location: Princeton, NJ
Application: Installation of new Andover control system
6 months (March 2013)
Value: $63,000

Hyatt Regency is a 348 room hotel located in Princeton, NJ. The purpose of the project was to replace the hotel’s aging central plant equipment, including chillers, heating boilers and domestic hot water heaters. A secondary goal was to improve the energy efficiency of the systems. Construction was phased over a six month period to allow the work to be completed without impacting service delivery or guest comfort.

The chilled water plant upgrade consisted of the installation of two 325 ton centrifugal chillers and chilled water pumps. The heating boiler plant upgrade consisted of the installation of two high efficiency condensing boilers with stainless steel heat exchangers, modulating burners and efficiency as high as 95%. The hotel’s existing building automation system was outdated and could not support the new central plant equipment. Thus, a new vendor was utilized to install a building automation system to control the central plant equipment. Cost savings of over $100,000 were realized compared to upgrading the existing building automation system.

Red Bull Soccer Arena

Project Type:
Sports Stadium
Project Location: Harrison, NJ
Out of the ground new construction
March 2010
Value: $750,000

JSC was successful in their bid to provide the BMS for the new Red Bull Soccer Arena in Harrison, NJ. With a target opening date of March 2010 it was ‘game on’ for JSC who earned the respect of Hunter Roberts Construction Group and the Red Bull Project Team.

The job presented some interesting challenges as JSC had never before worked on a professional sports stadium. A technical challenge was interfacing the BACnet based Andover BMS with Aerco boilers and York air handler controls provided by Johnson Controls, Inc. JSC earned “PROJECT OF THE MONTH” by Schneider Electric. Go Red Bulls.
